When I found out that I was pregnant, I immediately started looking on social media for some inspiration. Some maternity stores that I’ve found were either super expensive or outdated. Thankfully, most of my wardrobe has been able to transition perfectly throughout the pregnancy. I didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg on something that I would wear just for a period of time. And I definitely was not going to let my style go into decline just because I was pregnant.

Shop Pink Blush was one of the few stores that met my requirements for maternity wear. They have the latest trends in maternity clothes and you will be able to stylishly dress your bump but also, be able to transition easily post-pregnancy. But even if you’re not pregnant, they have a women’s line that will definitely cater to all the stylish women out there!  So when they  reached out to me to pick out a piece from their collection, I knew I couldn’t let this opportunity pass me by!

It was hard to chose only one piece of item from their amazing collection but at last, I picked out this amazing charcoal long sleeve dress with some ruching detail on the side. Layered with a fur waistcoat and paired with some ankle boots, this dress will take you from day to night! What I loved most about it was that it would perfectly transition after I give birth! Talk about some good usage! Exactly what I’m looking for with any type of clothing I own 😉

What happens when those that started with you or worse, after you, are now long ahead of you? You see them all accomplishing the dreams that you were once encouraging them to adhere to and now you find yourself on the other end of the conversation… What do you do when those feelings of jealousy and let’s admit it, self/pity come around?

This post is for all of those that are struggling to keep up the faith… struggling to keep up a smiling face when deep inside all they want to do is waive the white flag.

I’m not going to give you a quick remedy, magic potion that is going to make all things better… if you’re looking for that, you ain’t going to find it here. But what I can give you is a new breath of hope! A renewed breath of faith

You are feeling like waiving that flag today because knowingly or unknowingly you changed focus. At first your focus was to reach your dream but along the way as they started reaching theirs, you started looking at them.

This is like an athlete in a race, at first the goal is to bring home the gold medal – to win the race. But then you have Usain Bolt right next to you and you have heard of his recent accomplishments. Now your focus just changed, it is about beating the one that look favoured – and unknowingly you think you are no longer favored. Your focus is no longer the end of the race, your focus is Mr. Bolt. Every second of the race is not about what I should do to win but it is how I can beat Usain and where he is.

The problem with this is that you are no longer in a race to reach your goal/dream. Your focus just changed and it is about doing better than your friend. And you are no longer getting anywhere and they are, you are now willing to wave the flag because you fell for the trap – COMPARISON.

Today is the day to change your focus!
Today is the day to look at the finish line!
Today is the day to look at the One that says you are highly favoured!

“They looked unto him (God), and were radiant: and their faces were not ashamed.” (Psalms 34:5)

My encouragement is to not look at your shortcomings, your failures, your disappointments, but to look to the One who promised you that He has “plans to prosper you and not to harm you (Jeremiah 29:11). Also don’t look at others and compare with yourself because you will always find something that you are lacking.

Until next time,

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts then your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8

To calibrate: to adjust or mark something so that it can be used in an accurate and exact way. (Merriam Webster)

2016 has now come and gone… and the new year has already started. So many of us start the new year with sayings of “New Year, New Me”  or ” 2017 is my year” etc… But I want to bring to your attention that every lasting change has to start in your core belief. We might have big dreams for ourselves, but if our core belief thinking is somewhat limited, we will always veer towards our internal beliefs. Let me explain!  Someone might WANT with every fiber of his soul, to live an abundant life, they might WANT to succeed in life. (Notice the emphasis on “want”). But if their core beliefs are not aligned with this desire, if deep inside, they believe that all they will ever know is a mediocre, lacking life… that is what they will experience.

What kind of internal conversations are you having with yourself? When you’re “face to face” with yourself, what kind of thoughts are you entertaining? Deep down, do you believe that you are not called to have meaningful relationships in your life? Deep down, when bad things happen to you, what’s your first response? Do you say : “These things always happen to me…” or “When it rains, it pours…”?

For 2017, I want to encourage you to calibrate your thoughts, calibrate your expectations. The bible says that God’s thoughts are not our thoughts. But I believe that He can “elevate” our thoughts to His level, so that we don’t stay stuck in our mediocre way of thinking.

I believe that 2017 can be your best year yet, do you believe it?

Until next time,

Red Velvet ❤️!! I think it’s my favorite flavor of all time! Don’t know how I lived before without red velvet! I love it so much that for my Hubby’s birthday, even though his favorite flavor is chocolate… I pressed/convinced him to get a red velvet cake!!

Well , today’s post is not about that kind of Red Velvet, but about this luxurious red velvet dress that I wore a few days ago!

Shop my look:

Velvet has always been around; but this year, it has come in full force! This year, we’ve seen the Revival of velvet, as cleverly said by Vogue. And this dress perfectly embodies the glamour and luxury that are synonymous with velvet.

Shop the Style :

This non maternity velvet dress from ASOS is the perfect staple to add to your wardrobe for the holidays! I love how it’s quite loose to accommodate my growing baby bump, but that I will still be able to wear it, once baby Sterlin has arrived.
