FALL ESSENTIALS!

Fall is already upon us, which means the colder months are undeniably coming! What I learned in my 8 years living in Montreal is that Fall does not mean that the sweatpants that you lounge around the house with are okay to come out, or that the worn-out, salty UGG boots are suddenly fashionable.

One can definitely have fun with fashion during the colder months and still be warm! The key is to layer! Here are my top nine basics to help you transition into fall!

  1. A leather jacket

The leather jacket is here to stay ladies! A structured leather jacket can bring your outfit from “Blah” to “Wow”! Pair it with a simple tee, your skinny jeans, boots (or pumps, depending on the weather) and your red lipstick and you’ve got yourself a sophisticated outfit!

  1. Comfy Sweater

A gorgeous sweater in either wool, cashmere or any heavyweight material is necessary! Wear them alone or under a coat!

  1. Long sleeve t-shirt, button-downs, Cardigans

These are the key pieces in layering! The great thing about them is that they work for almost any time of the year. Swap your white button-down for a chambray one to spice things up a little!

  1. Skinny Jeans

A black or dark blue skinny jeans is the color to go for the colder months. They go with everything and are super slimming! That doesn’t mean that you have to retire your colored jeans. But pick a “Fall” color like burgundy or mustard!

  1. Leggings

Whether the classic cotton leggings or the leather leggings, we all need some leggings come fall. Wear it with an over-sized sweater or with a simple tee and a cropped jacket to balance out proportions.

  1. Knee-High Boots!

Knee-high flat boots work with anything from skinny jeans to that knitted sweater-dress for those days when you just want to be comfortable and fashionable at the same time! But wear a gorgeous ankle-grazing booty for when you want that “oomph” factor!

  1. Head pieces!

Definitely an essential! During the colder months, my ears tend to freeze to the point where I have to check to see if they’re still here! So during the colder months, I put my head piece on! There is a wide range out there! From wool floppy hats to turbans, one can look fabulous while still keeping warm!

  1. Gloves and scarves

We do need to protect our well-manicured hands from the cold! Knitted ones, leather ones, depending on the weather. Also ladies, do not forget the scarves! Do not be afraid to play with color and prints!

  1. Statement Coat

Don’t hesitate to wear a bold colored coat or a printed coat for that matter. Lately, I’ve been digging faux-fur coats a lot! They add a glamorous factor to any outfit. However, if you’re not ready for that, take your black or grey coat and add a statement belt to it to cinch your waist!

What is your go-to fall outfit? Do you have other fall essential items?  Let me know below! I, for one, am looking forward to rocking my faux-fur jacket! 🙂

Until next time,

xoxo
