LESSONS LEARNED FROM MOTHERHOOD

Hey you all!! It’s been a while since I wrote on the blog! Even though I’ve been somewhat active on Instagram, I admit I’ve neglected the blog, and I apologize for that. But with today’s being Mother’s Day, I couldn’t pass up this opportunity to share with you what I’ve learned so far from motherhood.

This year marks my second mother’s day. However, it definitely feels like my first, as last year, Chloe was just a few weeks old. I was just starting to get a hold of this “mommy-thing”, and I certainly was not in a position to write my “lessons learned from motherhood”. Now that Chloe is 1 year old, I think I can now venture into this territory.

  • Motherhood is a selfless, tough job…

However the reward is incomparable. I never thought I’d be the mom who eats her child “half-chewed” food, but motherhood changes you, what can I say. 🙈 I read somewhere that “a mother is a person who seeing there are only 4 pieces of pie for 5 people, promptly announces she never did care for pie”, and that statement couldnt be any more true.

  • Just when you think you’ve reached your limit, you surprise yourself.

You discover skills and strengths you’d never thought you had: From the sleepless nights, to setting up a stroller, to picking up a car seat, diaper bags and every other things that seem to come with a baby, to learning to balance work life and family life… Every new heights attained call for a celebration!

And you learn that sometimes, patience is shown, not felt; which brings me to my 3rd point.

  • Patience

I feel like motherhood is synonymous with patience. Not that I’ve mastered that virtue, but I’ve learned to take it one day at a time (I try to)… Now that Chloé knows how to self-feed, she wants to do it herself. Even if that means picking up one, I repeat ONE, grain of rice to put in her mouth

  • You appreciate your own mother even more.

Before becoming a mother, I never realized the depth of the love of a mother. It certainly made me appreciate my mother even more and all the sacrifices she’s made.

  • The heart of the Father (God) is revealed.

When I became a mom, I realized what it truly means to love unconditionally. I would give anything for this child 👧🏽 Even in her mess, I don’t hesitate to hug, hold her! And that’s the kind of love that God has for each one of us. Even when we mess up, his arms are open wide to embrace us.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas, step-mamas out there! You are all MVPs!

Until next time,

xoxo 💋
