Lisboa: where I traded my gelatos for NATAS! Or should I say, where I added natas to my gelato diet!
When we were planning the trip, we had decided to rent an Airbnb in Lisboa, since I was 99.9% sure we would need to do the laundry, at this point during our trip. Little did I know that with Chloe getting sick at the beginning of our trip, the washing machine in our Airbnb would come in handy! (see Barcelona Travel diaries to see what I’m referring to). Our place was very well located (Chiado area) and I think Chloe preferred it than hotel rooms we stayed in, since she had more space to run around! This is definitely something that we will take into consideration for our next trip!
We read great reviews on Pasteis de Belem, a Portuguese bakery form the early 1800, and wanted to try their natas. But the lineup was insane! Some people were in line for more than an hour and they weren’t even near the entrance! Hubby decided to take one for the team and woke up early the next day to avoid the crowds at “Pasteis de Belem”, because we just had to see what the hype was all about. I can confirm that it was worth the hype 😉
A must-do while in Lisboa is to visit all the popular tourist sites (Alfama, Graca, Baixa, and Estrela) while on-board of the Tram 28. It’s quite the experience, passing through the narrow streets of the city, and being able to touch the walls of the buildings while on-board of the tram!
Lisboa is known as the city of seven hills… and boy oh boy is that right! Ever since we had arrived in Lisboa, we’ve been climbing hills like there was no tomorrow. Okay, I’m joking 🙃, but you get the picture! Bring comfortable shoes lest you slide down the hills!
The food there is amazing! You will not be disappointed!
