Wedding season is right around the corner! I’m sure by now you are all receiving wedding invites and have this question hanging over your head: “What does one wear to a spring wedding?”
Well, a dear reader of the blog reached out to me recently to help her find a dress for a wedding. Here’s what she said:
“I am going to a wedding and I am searching for a dress. I want it be classy, long, sexy and sophisticated …”
Well, I hear you my friend! Even though, we don’t want to upstage the bride, we still want to look good! 😉 Spring is the time to experiment with color. Leave out all the dark colors of winter and be in tune with the rebirth of Nature and all the flowers blooming.
I also decided to tackle a subject that people often don’t consider when choosing a dress for a wedding: daytime, cocktail, black tie??? What are the different types of wedding attire??? The important thing is to know at what time the wedding will be held! Because one thing I know for sure, is that no one wants to arrive to a daytime wedding wearing sequins and all.
So, let’s decipher the codes and get some outfit ideas :
DAYTIME:
Daytime Spring weddings call for fresh pastel colors like lavender, peach or cream. Florals are a big trend this spring so don’t hesitate to pull of the trend with this gorgeous dress from ASOS. A sleek necklace and accessories taking cue from the dress will add sophistication to your look.
COCKTAIL ATTIRE
Cocktail attire is where lines are blurred. 😉 It’s a little before 6 o’clock but the festivities will continue into the night. So, I would avoid fabric like cotton and go with fabric that have a luxe feel to it.
This beautiful backless dress from ASOS has the perfect amount of drama for a cocktail wedding. The accessories perfectly compliment the color of the dress, while adding other pops of color.
BLACK TIE
Black tie equals formal, meaning men are in tuxes and women in floor-length gowns. This dress from Virgos Lounge is elegant and the embellishments add pizzazz to the dress!
